Enthusiastic chess players from all over Livingston County, and beyond, meet weekly to play interesting and friendly chess at our new location. Players of all ages are welcome. We try to make chess, interesting, challenging, and enjoyable. There is plenty of space at our sponsor’s location that we are anxious to fill with more members. The club is trying to grow the membership to further diversify the play. You can find us at 6:30pm to 9:00pm on a week day to be announced. Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, check out our web site to get an idea of what we are doing and what we are all about. Whether you already play, maybe have played in the past, or you would like to learn, we are here to encourage your interests, and help you in the pursuit of the mind stimulating enjoyment, and friendship associated with the game of chess.
A lot About The Chess Club; our facility, when and where we play, our aspirations for tournaments and intra-club, and district chess play, the club special events, and our network connections with other chess organization.
A large section dedicated to Chess Education because we can all get at least a little bit better if we study the game and the strategies that have been developed by those we look up to, who have studied, and successfully played the game before us. In The Learning Center you can play chess against the Shredder computer. The center also includes many videos with move by move graphic, and associated audio explanations detailing the strategies for each move. The learning center is divided into four main sections covering the Opening Game strategies, the Middle Game, the End Game, and analysis of games played by many of the Professional Chess masters. Here are some examples.
You can find a Game section which includes a featured special interest chess game by one of our members. There is also a PGN game editor for recording and generating game files. This section includes several selected Member Games which are uploaded by members to help document and analyze their games. This section is a lot of fun and very helpful for reviewing games to see what might have been done differently after the fact.
